Welcome to my kitchen kingdom! My name is Sherry and I am a self-proclaimed kitchen wench. Meaning, I love to serve others delicious foods and fill their tummies and hearts. I am a wife and mother of two young men so I also HAVE to feed other people but I really love it. I am a born and raised farm girl from a very small midwestern town. I strayed a few miles away for a short time but came back to my rural roots to raise my own kids.
I work full time for the State of Illinois and use my coworkers and bosses as test subjects for many of my recipes. I decided to start this blog as a way to share my creations and time-worn family favorites. Now I can feed even more people and fill more tummies and hearts (hopefully). Yay!
I come from a large family and we all love to eat. There are photos to prove this. There are some wicked good cooks in my clan so there has never been any shortage of culinary inspiration. My mom was an elementary school cook for many years but weirdly enough did not really teach me how to do much of anything in the kitchen. Mom was a great cook at home too and I apparently did absorb some of her knowledge. My Dad’s family had 10 kids and most of those kids had large families. Our family reunion spreads could rival a restaurant smorgasbord.
My cooking style is not fancy. I like to cook and bake simple comfort foods but will occasionally foray over to the wild side for a crazy, decadent recipe. Ok, so maybe it is more than occasionally but I can’t help myself. Oh yeah, and I absolutely adore chocolate! Like, have to have it every day in some form, adore it! This may be evident in my posts…just saying. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the recipes and life tidbits as much as I enjoy serving it up.
